Meet Alex (she/her)
You have gone through so much, held it together as best you can, but feel like you are hiding the struggle that can’t keep silent anymore and just need support.
Together we can get out of that place into flow. I take into consideration you as an individual as well as your family, identities, and cultural context. We can weave together all the parts of you that might feel hidden, rejected, hurt, and bring them into view in a supportive way that is guided by you.
My approach is somatic, meaning body based, and intersectional, being aware of generational, historical and ongoing trauma that impacts some of our communities.
I am a Mixed Race, Mexican, Second Generation immigrant, Queer, Femme and am excited to have the honor to work with you.
What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic frameworks can bring together our mind and body after years of disconnection. Our world, internalized oppressive systems, families, cultures, and trauma can condition us into patterns that manifest as feeling depleted, anxious, hyper vigilant, defensive, and mistrustful of ourselves and others. Feeling stuck in our fight, flight, freeze reactions.
Somatic work can help us understand and work with these reactions, get to know sensations we feel from the inside out, so we can care for our nervous system and increase our capacity for healing, embodiment, and collective healing.
Somatic work is nervous system guided, meaning we will work at your pace to bring awareness of the little shifts from feeling disconnected, fragmented, and far away from others to connection and wholeness. We will get to know what survival energy may be stuck or stored in your body so we can move towards integration and/or discharge/release. We will explore and work towards what healing you would like to help trust in yourself, others, and find a sense of safety in your skin.
